WET PAINT: An Artist's Movement

Wet Paint is a traveling art show that captures the palpable tension between the MTA and graffiti writers in New York City. When the authorities clean up subway station graffiti by painting over it, they routinely hang a “Wet Paint” sign. The Wet Paint crew pulled down hundreds of these signs and sent them to artists around the world. Each artist made their sign uniquely beautiful.

Since it’s conception as a simple website release, it has been embraced by artists and collectors alike, as a fresh approach to a well loved genre.
